Recipe: Spaghetti Sauce
Spaghetti Sauce
in a saucepan saute 6 -8 large cloves of garlic and onion in olive oil
add 2 handfuls each of chopped celery, green pepper, mushrooms
saute for about 10 min.
add extra-lean minced beef (about 1 lb. to 1 1/2 lb.) and cook till lightly browned with no red showing
add 2 cans of Hunts Italian spaghetti sauce and stir
cook for about 1 hour or so
give it a good stir through every 5 min. or so while cooking:
add dry spices such as italian spice, marjoram, oregano, tarragon etc.to taste
add red wine liberally
some pepper and a little salt
towards the last 10 minutes of cooking:
add 3 - 4 heaping tablespoons of french vanilla yogurt and stir in thoroughly
at the very end while still cooking:
add sprinklings of flour to thicken the sauce
the trick is you have to keep tasting to know when the flavor is right
ladle over freshly cooked/drained noodles (whole wheat noodles taste great) and ENJOY
